Screen Elements Hierarchy

Real-Time Designer captures a detailed hierarchy of screen element ancestral information. For example, for a field screen element, Real-Time Designer can select the area of the window, the window name, the parent window names, the application name, and so on. Not all of these are shown in Real-Time Designer without specifically asking to see them.

To view these elements, right-click the root of the Physical Objects Screen Elements tree (Process level) and select Show Hidden Captures:

The Show Hidden Captures option displays more branches showing lower-level information, such as the hierarchy of areas in the window and the fields that they contain, for example, the parents of a field.

By default, the hidden screen elements are not displayed in the Screen Elements tree. Also, these hidden elements are not visible when you use the Assignment Tool. For example, Assignment Tool in Rule or Business Entity.

Displaying hidden screen captures in the Assignment tool is configurable in the Real-Time Designer > Screen Capture branch of the System Settings window. By default, the Show hidden screen captures in the Assignment tool paremeter is set to False. For more details, see the Screen Capture chapter in the System Administration Guide.

In addition, you can make a single hidden screen element or all hidden children screen elements visible.

Right-click the hidden screen element in the Screen Elements and select Visible to make this screen element visible. The hidden screen element becomes visible in the Screen Elements tree:

To make all hidden screen elements visible, right-click the root of the Screen Elements tree (Process level) and select Set All Children Visible. All hidden screen elements become visible in the Screen Elements tree:
